The Nemo Pinata

Carson turned "4" June 28, 2009.
I have always wanted to make a pinata, but never felt like I would have time. I started early this time. I didn't want to pay $40 for a Nemo pinata and shipping since you just hit the thing and it shreds to pieces. so....I looked for info on the the net and this is how it turned out. It did take a week because it has to dry before each coat. It was fun though, and a little therapeutic for me. I want to do crafts so bad...but I just get frustrated because I always get interupted!

First you blow up your balloon...don't try to fill it up too full our you'll scare the crud out of your kids by popping it (been there done that!). It was at night, back door open and I swear echoed down the slu in the backyard!

Then the fun begins. Mix 2 cups water to 1 cup flour in a medium bowl, and cup several strips of newspaper (put the kids in charge of this one...needless to say they don't have to be perfect!!) Dip strips in mixture and then pull through you two fingers to get excess off. Spread over the entire balloon so none of it is visible. Let dry over night and repeat at least 3-5 times.
Then decorate. I painted it orange first. Then cut long strips of tissue paper and glue them on. Corey made the eyes and mouth. We cut the fins out of cardboard, taped and glued them on, and decorated them to match. Then cut a hole on top and add the goodies.i

The hardest part was figuring out how it would hang with out ripping or falling. Thanks to my dad who rigged it. He used plastic ties to support the body, and then we attached the rope.

It worked perfect and cost...well less than $5.
Happy Birthday my Baby Boy!!

Hunting Beach, CA

A relaxing day at the beach. It was beautiful! Hardly any wind. The kids had a great time!

Are we ready to jump the waves?

Not so sure about putting her feet down.

Starting the sand castle.
The finished product.
Cyauna cozy in her spot.

A true little beach bum. She was so good and we were there for at least 3
-4 hours!

Long Beach, CA

The lighthouse. If you look closely you will see Corey, Conner, Carson, Jr, and Chandler standing at the bottom.

What a cute couple....
Oh...wait he ticked me off so I threw him over....no worries he gives the wave that he is ok!!!

Grandma Jean in front of the Queen Marie. Supposeofly it is haunted.

A big fish checking out JR and Cyauna... she's not so sure.

Carson ready to drive the car....wait it actually moves...the picture that follows should be one of him in histerics because he doesn't want to drive it. Sorry no picture because yes, mom had to rescue him. Silly boy!

The battle is on!!!!

The fire truck battle. 3 or 4 turcks are next to each other. You have to use your own pushing and pulling power race down put out a pretend fire and make it back first. The race was on!!! Jimmy, his mom, and JR (below) against Chris, Jason, Corey and Conner (above) and not pictured mom, dad, Chandler, and Carson. Jimmy's truck won :)

My happy baby girl and her cute pony tails!

Chris hovering over Conner trying not to get hit by water that shoots out of the water or a gun from the crowd.

Disneyland

Ariel and Cyauna...the closet we were able to get to a princess. For some reason the boys just weren't interested in them?????

Chandler, Cyauna, and Chris on the toy story ride. Those are guns and you ride around to different video games and see what your score is at the end!!! I liked this one!!

Cute cousins Corey and Chandler with the Finding Nemo Submarine behind them. Not sure it was worth the 45 minute wait in line, but it was cute!

Goofy

Princess Cyauna at the end of the day saying thank goodness we are heading home!!!!
